If i have an employee reporting to me, having excellent performance, but he is unhappy with his appraisal, and i know that his expectations were unrealistic, under the current situations and circumstances, how would i handle this situation?

We are under a tornado watch today. I am a grown woman, but I am TERRIFIED of tornadoes! I know a watch doesn’t mean that one is heading in my direction, but I feel like one is. I think the fear comes from my not being able to control the situation.
