Notepad Displays Symbols And Things When I Try To Open A Txt. File?

I have a txt. file that I saved from another computer on a CD and I’m trying to open it on this computer but it just displays a bunch of stuff. I cant change the font either. Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.
